Classical Minnesota Public Radio made a visit to Park Center Senior High School May 23, bringing in special guest composer Hannah Schendel for an interactive lesson with the school’s orchestra. Schendel is a Brooklyn Center native who currently serves as cover conductor with the Minnesota Orchestra, the music director of the Wayzata Symphony Orchestra and a visiting conductor with the Carleson Orchestra.

Schendel is a decorated conductor, having recently been named the 2025 David Effron Conducting Fellow at the Chautauqua Institution. She was also one of three finalists in the prestigious Mills Williams Junior Fellowship competition at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, along with other notable accomplishments and honors in this arena.
